Psoriasis is a chronic condition that is related to the immune system. It occurs when the immune system is overactive causing inflammation that speeds up the growth of the skin cells. This often results in the formation of scales, plaques or lesions on the skin that can be itchy and painful.2

Psoriasis is more than just skin

The inflammation that causes Psoriasis can sometimes impact joints too, putting people with Psoriasis at a high risk of developing painful and stiff joints, a condition called Psoriatic Arthritis.3
Psoriatic Arthritis typically develops around 5 to 12 years after Psoriasis begins, but some people may not have skin symptoms till the joint symptoms start.4
